Let's just talk about a switch, what are single fire and zero fire? Even though customer service told us which to buy, my curiosity left me wondering why there were these differences.

Why separate fire and zero fire?

Circuit knowledge: When electricity enters the home, it is a live wire with a voltage of 220V and an uncharged neutral wire. Electrical appliances (light bulbs, TVs, etc.) need to be connected to the live wire and the neutral wire at the same time to form a closed circuit for work.

The switch only needs to be connected to one line to control the opening and closing of the circuit, so when decorating, if it is not specially requested by the owner, generally only one line is left in the switch box.

In theory, this wire can be either the neutral wire or the live wire, but the live wire is generally chosen. The reason is also very simple. Imagine that if the switch is connected to the neutral wire, and the live wire is always connected to the electrical equipment, if it is accidentally touched during maintenance or replacement, there may be a risk of electric shock.

Back to the smart switch, the smart device is smart because of the built-in smart control module. This module also needs to be powered on all the time when the lights are turned off, so that it can be on standby at any time. If the smart switch is in a loop with the light bulb as before, after the light is turned off, the smart module of the switch will also be powered off, and the smart switch will also fail.

Therefore, the smart switch should be connected to the neutral wire and the live wire like other electrical appliances, and it should be connected to the live wire for a long time. This is the zero fire switch.

The control chip is always energized, and the part connected to the light bulb can be controlled by the control chip.

The zero-fire switch is an ideal state. In fact, when the switch box was renovated before, there was basically only one live wire left in the switch box. The neutral wire would be connected to the roof from other places to connect the light bulb. It was very difficult to add a neutral wire to the switch box. This requires a smart switch that can work only by connecting the fire wire, so the single fire switch came into being.

The single fire switch has a built-in variable resistance, which does not directly disconnect the circuit when performing the light-off operation, but reduces the current passing through by increasing the resistance. This weak current is not enough to light the bulb and keep the switch working. Of course, there are other ways to obtain electricity from a single fire, but there is inevitably a weak current.
